Teleprompters – Who Needs Them ?

Interrotrons hit NYC In this brave new gadget a day world comes something actually useful. Now even the simple on camera interview gets a new twist. and best selling author Videographer & director Errol Morris uses a teleprompter-like setup in conducting interviews which he calls the “Interrotron.” .The invention is set up in front of the lens often a film camera); however, instead of displaying a written script, it is used to display the image coming from a video camera focused on Morris who is positioned just a few yards away

Consequently, the interview subject can gaze straight into the lens of the camera to watch Morris’ face while talking rather than off in some other direction .

The camera focused on interviewer can also be arranged with a teleprompter displaying the interviewee (using the “video assist” output if a film camera is used on the subject). Thus, the two people can execute a virtual face-to-face interview for the event . The usefulness of this gadget is to allow the interviewer and interviewee to talk with each other while looking directly into the lens of the camera. Before the invention of the device both participants in the conversation had to look into a cold camera lens rather than into the face of the individual in the interview

No matter if the questioner stood right by the camera tripod, the person in front of the camera just seemed to be looking the wrong way .

Morriss creation is now an common prompter type found on video interview sets.

Most high end film stages have a least two of Morriss Interritrons. In Manhattan The American Movie Company at 212-952-1800 (www.AmericanMovieCo.com) and Teleprompter-New York.com and Production Central , Oraculum Pictures and Ventura Productions all have these useful devices .

Our conclusion is that we love this gadget.
