Short Best Man Speeches – Tips To Use

Not because you will deliver short best man speeches does it mean that you can forget about preparing it. No, even with very short speeches, research could still go a long way. Lack of preparation for a speech for a very special occasion is a disaster waiting to happen.

So how do you ensure that it will all go well? Here are a few tricks.

Mean what you say. More words doesn’t always ensure that you deliver your message across and shorter speeches sometimes have the power similar to lengthy ones. A few, well-constructed, decently said sincere lines often do enough to reach out to your audience. If you’re planning to deliver a short speech, it would be best to use very powerful, meaningful lines.

Try to be cautious. Watch out for an unguarded comment or two as these can spoil the festive mood. Don’t talk about the groom’s past relationship whom everyone would rather forget or the bride’s parents whose expressions seem like they don’t want to be sitting in the audience. You catch the point – don’t mention about matters that your audience prefer not to hear. In the event you are cracking a joke, however, be sensitive that you don’t touch sensitive subjects. Also, don’t joke at the expense of anyone in the audience, especially the bride and the groom. If it’s funny and would not hurt the sensibilities of the groom, if you’re joking about him for example, try to pick a good, entertaining but not embarrassing joke and phrase it decently.

Try to entertain the guest. Refrain from serious, structured speech. As much as possible, deliver it in a conversational tone. With that said, don’t use formal language and tone to avoid boring your crowd.

Be sensitive to what your audience wants to hear. A wedding party is composed of a very diverse crowd so age-appropriate materials are very much in need. Very old people as well as children may react against words that to them seem offending, so be sure to pick your words well. Also, don’t use swear words if it can be helped or alter these words with witty ones so that everyone would be comfortable hearing it.

Talk to a few people. Ask these people to share some information with you. Talk to the bride’s and groom’s other friends and find out if there are good stories which you can use as materials for short best speeches.

Prepare a short best man speech. Unless you know that your audience is fond of lengthy speeches, spare them of some deliberately long lines and instead give them short best man speeches. No one really wants to listen to a 30-minute long epic so try to keep it short. However, it’s shortness should accommodate enough information, a few jokes, and final toasts. A 3 to 5-minute speech, with a few jokes here and there, a short anecdote about the groom, a few wishes and a final toast would work very well.
