How To Be A Good Public Speaker
Can you still remember the time you first started working in the business world and presented a speech in front of lots of people? Did you lose your breath suddenly? Did you slur your words or lose all your thoughts? If your answers to the above questions are yes, then you might need some public speaking help!
After having a sufficient amount of practice in public speaking, you will be confident enough to speak on stage. Instead of nervousness, you can feel the true enjoyment of public speaking. You will be so in love with public speaking that you may even request for speaking on stage and help others who fear doing it.
I started to love public speaking after going through a couple of things that changed my impression of public speaking. I went to conferences a lot and used the presentations and workshops there as my role models. After watching and studying them, I imitated their techniques while doing my own presentations.
I tried to imitate their techniques when it was my turn to give a speech on stage. One very important point to note here is that you must be confident if you want to be good at giving a speech. Maintaining eye contact with the audience is crucial as well.
When I was just a beginner, my diffidence about speaking in front of people was revealed to all my audiences. My concentration was lost even if I were well prepared for my presentation. I did not know what else I could say and this made me break eye contact with all the audiences.
These are not good behavior of a presentation. A professional should never do these things on stage.
Therefore, I changed to focus on one person until I finished a sentence or thought. After that, I realized my thought can be continued without disturbance, and so I could speak for more time.
With the above little trick, I am now able to keep my concentration throughout any presentation and to make adequate eye contact. I am therefore confident to speak at any occasion, even with a large audience.
